It's official! The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded a Grand Challenges Exploration grant in the area of mobile-phone based health care to develop a dirt-powered phone charger!

Harvard's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences did a nice press release and it has been picked up by blogs such as FastCompany, Gizmag and CrazyEngineers. The grant is house at the Laboratory-at-Large, at Harvard University.
