Carbon nanotubes for the developing world?

In a recent article in the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Professor Liming Dai of Case Western Reserve, and two research associates S. Wang and D. Yu showed that polymer-coated carbon nanotubes can function as cathode catalysts as well as the much more (650X more!) expensive platinum catalyst!

If these work well with microbial fuel cells we might well have joined two hitherto incongruous buzz word fields into one harmonious twang.

Hopefully we can rope in a collaborator on this one - making our own seems a little... intense.
